I knitted a sock!

Just wanted to show off my first knitted sock ever! I have started but never completed a sock. I always screwed up on the heel. Not thus time :) I used the self stripping sock pattern from Red Heart, Red Heart super fine spring strip, US 2 DPN, and a yarn needle. It's so far from perfect, but I did what I set out to do. Very proud of me right now.
Blessings!

PB Farmhouse table knock off complete!

So in Dec of 2010th I found a little ole website that changed my level of inspiration in regards to what I wanted to do in my home. Ana White made buildings look easy. After following her plan it not only LOOKED easy but it was easy to do with my limited knowledge and huge imagination. Please so her your love. http://www.ana-white.com

My table was made out if reclaimed wood. We used industrial pallet from my husbands work place. It took 4 pulled part in the garage with a hammer. Backed out all the screws using a hammer as well and I still think my thumb is bruised. Cost $0.  Paint was flat black from other various projects. 2 coats. $0 Sanded down with a fine grit sand paper that was lying on his work bench. $0 One can of midway red mahogany stain from Walmart $9.00. One can of midway polyurethane clear gloss $9.97 again from Walmart. Screws came from the screw can on the bench.  (that last bit sounded dirty... sorry). So the original table was on pottery barn for well over $2,000! My hubbs and I did our table for under 20 bucks! I love my hubbs :*
More to come soon!

Storms part 2!!

So very lucky to be alive right now. Spent much of the afternoon at my daughters high school for an IEP meeting. We get about 20 minutes into the meeting and the tornado siren went off. Turns out that the tornado that hit our area of nashvegas missed is by a cornfield. Thankful to a wonderful school staffer making my children and i safe.  Blessed that God watches over us all. It is simply amazing that no one has been killed and that we can lay in His hand for keeping us safe.

Storms!

I hate stormy weather. I can't focus, I become a tv drone, and I want to sleep but I'm too scared to. Currently wearer under a tornado watch. That alone makes me freak out. So my to do list today is not looking good. I have picked my fabric and supplies for my Target pillow knock off and found another pillow that I like from IKEA on the Lettered Cottage blog today about the reading room redo. I wish I had as much talent as layla and her husband. Amazingly talents and resourceful. Love the old gymnasium floor that they used for the batten in the guest room. So smart and a wonderful second chance for the wood.

Getting there!

Good beautiful day! It is so windy here this afternoon. Just wanted to post a quick update. I have accomplished 2.5 if my projects. Kitchen is painted, hutch is painted and stained, farmhouse table is painted, sanded, stained, and is being sealed. Gotta put the chairs together that I got from O.co and then find a plan for my benches. Tomorrow its gong to storm here in Nashvegas, so I am finishing my friends cemo cap, tracing out my knock off parsley Target pillow, and putting the house back together. Love my Sunday :) later taters!

ChemKnits: Simple Seed Stitch Border Coaster Pattern

ChemKnits: Simple Seed Stitch Border Coaster Pattern: "So I was working on a sampler of coasters to decide what would work best in my house. When making coasters, I started making up some things..."

Second Time Around

So there are many things I have done or attempted twice.  Driving, school, marriage, ect.  I believe that life is full of second chances while society..not so much.  Many of my attempts or misadventures have resulted in the loss of something.  However I have always learned from my mistakes.  They (whom I am not sure) say art imitates life, or maybe its the other way around.  Any how, my art or my medium is crafting..of all kinds.  Crafts are my santuary, my quiet place (even when the craft isn't so quiet), my stress relief, my happy place.  I love that when you mess up something your working on you can tear it apart, paint over it, or destroy it with a hammer.  The materials I like to use are re-purposed too..reclaimed wood, recycled materials of all kinds.  I like to give things a second chance.  Make something ugly pretty.  Not saying that what is pretty to me is pretty to everyone though. So this blog will be about second chances..stay tuned for more!
